Live 60-minute webinar for New Zealand businesses
Set your direction for the next 12 months
Before you write next year’s plan, check that you and your team are heading the same way. In 60 minutes, Daniel Paul takes you through six questions we use with clients when they plan their year.
You’re doing important work but decision-makers often aren’t listening. That means your advocacy needs a plan.
In this live 60-minute webinar, you’ll work through the Advocacy Alignment Workshop, our proven 6-step framework for turning “we care about this” into a plan someone in power has to respond to.
You’ll leave with your own working 6Ps Advocacy Plan, covering purpose, performance, positioning, people, proposition and priorities, plus a plain-English explainer guide and next-steps checklist to put it into action.
Built for community, volunteer and social services organisations who are ready to be heard properly.
The problem
Most teams think they agree on where the business is going
You may already have a vision and a strategy. The harder part is what they mean day to day. Ask five people in your business what you’re there to do, who matters most and what comes first, and you’ll often get five answers.
Those differences don’t show up until the plan is written and people start pulling in different directions. A short conversation first, with everyone’s views on the table, saves a lot of that. The plan that comes out of it can be one page, as long as it says what you’re aiming for, who you need on side and how you’ll know it’s working.
What you’ll work through
The six questions (the 6Ps)
Daniel works through each one with you, using a real example. You draft your own answers as you go. There are no right or wrong answers.
P1
Purpose
What does your business actually exist to do, and what does that look like on a normal working day?
P2
Positioning
How do you want customers and partners to see you? Would they say that about you now, and if not, what would need to change?
P3
People
Who matters most to your growth over the next year or two? Customers, yes, but who else? Staff, suppliers, partners, referrers.
P4
Proposition
If someone asked why your business matters and why they should back it, what’s the one thing you’d want them to take away? We test it against BRACES: believable, relevant, actionable, compelling, emotional and simple.
P5
Priorities
Given all that, what will actually shift the dial? No more than six, and what to do first.
P6
Performance
In 12 months, how will you know you’ve made progress? What will success look like on the ground, and how will you measure it?
After the September session
“I think you undersold it. Particularly useful, not just for a small org, but for a larger one such as ourselves.”
Danny Shaw, Policy and Advocacy Manager, Engineering New Zealand

Run it with your team
The webinar gives you a start. Many businesses get the most from the 6Ps when the whole leadership team works through them together, with someone from outside running the conversation. If that would help, there are two options. Happy for you to just keep the template, too.
